IQ Test: What Do You Really Know About The Salvation Army?

STOP!

STOP!

Before you give, ask to see their IRS form 990!

Very few realize The Salvation Army is a church with a paramilitary structure. It is its own denomination “Salvationist” and/or “Soldier” is what you are called as a member. Please do your homework! You are supporting a salvationist church; some would call it a cult with outreach programs. They have intentionally created deception. For example; all of their churches read “The Salvation Army Corps Community Center” (corps aka: church) calling it a corps is one form of public deception. They want you to perceive them as a social service charity and/or emergency disaster outreach origination with Christian principles.

Do you know where the money comes from to pay for the “ officers” (the folks you see in uniform) housing, health care, dental insurance, vision insurance, vehicles, gas, heating, electric bill, phone, cell phones, Internet, cable, uniforms, daycare, food, retirement & cash salaries (if it’s a husband and wife, only the husband gets paid! That’s a whole different issue)? The red kettles you put your money in every Christmas season…..if you take the national average for all of these expenses, it’s estimated to be about $73,000 a year. Not rich….but far from poor!

They are quick to call people with money or people who want to better themselves greedy….. because they sacrifice so much; oh really? It’s all about perception. Plus they hire most of the bell ringers as seasonal help. You would be very hard pressed to find an “Officer” ringing a bell.

A very large amount of the money you give goes to pay for and expand their denomination (“overhead”). The 6 week kettle campaign is a 6 week church fundraiser (the church is not self-sustaining; almost no one knows they’re a church). Sure they do help a lot of people and have a lot of good programs; but a large amount of that money comes from government funds and grants (still our money). Last year’s grants and government funds are estimated to total more than eight hundred million dollars. Imagine the good your church could do with those types of funds.

They paint a picture of “doing the most good” to grab your emotions; they want you to feel like you’re making a difference and you are just not the way you had hoped. It gives truth to the old saying….”never judge a book by its cover”!!!!

Did you know that all Kroc “community” center signage will read; The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center. Millions have been taken from the communities and given to these projects. I wonder if they know they are building a “SALVATIONIST” Salvation Army Church! Not a community center with a non-denominational church that will appeal and entice the community. Not the KINGDOM building for Jesus Christ, urban church as advertised in some communities.

Major Roger Ross, referring to the Grand Rapids, Mi., Kroc center stated; “we want to see a sea of uniforms in the pews, and this project has always been about building our denomination”. Nothing wrong with that: as long as that is what you’re communicating to your supporters and community. It’s really not about the Community, but The Salvation Army!?!

Nothing wrong with supporting our churches, I’m a true advocate and believe tithes and offerings to be biblical and practice such, but I also believe we should know who and what we are supporting.

Overall do these folks do anything that you would want to pay for? They run a day to day business (corporation) of maintaining their denomination and coming up with new ways to raise more money using their wholesome image, enticing you to give more.

There is a lot of poverty on our planet. People who can’t help themselves need our help. So do your homework when it comes to making a donation, and choose wisely. Make sure that 90% of your money is going to the poor.
