A Tale of a Greedy Charity
http://www.neatorama.com/2007/05/28/a-tale-of-a-greedy-charity/
2.  The RED KETTLES you see in front of Walmart & other locations, are a 6 week church fundraising campaign (the church, aka cops community centers are not self-sustaining) for a Salvationist church, that primarily caters to its Salvationist members, a lot of which are on the payroll. If you want to give to a church, consider giving to your church...they can expand their outreach programs! Each local Salvation Army Corps (church) community center has a red kettle campaign (with a few exceptions). The money raised will be used to fund that centers (church) budget for the year. Most of the bell ringers are hired as seasonal help. They are very intentional in who they hire, appearance is everything (poverty profiling)… someone considered to be, or who looks to be- low class, poor or in need…. Thus stimulating your emotions; pimping your allegiance to the cause.

CHARGES OF RACIAL DISCRIMINATION

"Trust me, the Salvation Army will find ways to fund that crock of a Kroc Center even if it means pushing the needs of those in need off to other counties...they will do whatever it takes, short of the officer families giving up any of their too many benefits to mention. That will never happen...or give up their ability to hire every relative every officer's family has (nepotism is the name of the game at the Salvation Army)...or give up their annual meetings in places like the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island? Never!"

Look closer said...
Well, it is disturbing that other charities’ leaders are receiving “high salaries”, but perhaps they are just being more open in reporting their expenses. Few CEO’s receive the total packages offered to Salvation Army “leaders”. The difference is that the statistics showing the Salvation Army is helping more people are somewhat misleading, as the expenses incurred by ministers for cable, cell phones, laptops, etc are considered crucial to their job and thus considered a part of the service statistics, when itemizing their expenditures, EVEN THOUGH they are the real recipients of the expenditures, not the needy. And those fringe benefits are total and extreme, when you look at the total costs of their living expenses being paid for completely, with donated funds (how much do you spend on everything you do in your personal life? This is what each officer receives, plus a very nice, upscale home, all free). This also includes the frequent airfares to/from religious retreats, or seminars, or symposiums, or even to visit relatives in far away locations. Officers also occasionally get to travel around the world on “business”, such as visiting the Holy Land/Jerusalem. On your dime, of course.
Little of the kettle money ever actually goes to help someone with housing, shelter or food, as their signs profess at Christmas. It does primarily go into the “general fund”, which covers administrative costs, including the ministers’ salaries, perks and living expenses.
If anyone cares, simply do the math: One set of ministers, husband and wife, spending the monthly amounts of $2,000 or so on electric, food, gasoline, cable, cell, etc (this is a very conservative estimate). Additionally, the mortgage (if they had one) would be $1200 monthly (again, conservative estimate), so as a minimum, $3200/month, or $38,400. That doesn’t count the salary of $28,000 or more per spouse, so we’re already about 94,000 or so yearly. Throw in at least 2 or more vacations (also paid) per year and we’re at 100,000 easily. Now continue your math: 100k yearly x 5-10 sets of ministers per city (more or less, depending on size), times how many cities in the USA? 1000? 10,000? There’s your kettle money…
Anyone believing that the Salvation Army ministers live sparingly on minimal salaries is deluded, perhaps because they wish to know their money was “spent wisely”. On paper, or the internet, everything is appropriate, frugal and proper, but if you see it firsthand, you will certainly know the where their money really goes!
It is important to note that the government funds the Salvation Army receives are very strictly administered by federal, state and local governments, thus are generally used for their intended purposes, not because the Salvation Army wouldn’t mind using the money for their own personal use, but because the government actually cares how our tax money is used. What is more troublesome is the Sal Army’s usage of private donations. Are they being used to directly help people, or more for administrative and/or fringe benefits to ministers in charge?
I suggest visiting the charity you intend to give to. What kind of offices and staff do they have? What kind of service delivery can they show you? How open are they to provding you with a follow up on exactly how your donation was spent, how, when, where, what was purchased, etc? Always write on a check what you want the money to be used for, as well as what not it should be used for!! Trusting a charity due to their religious beliefs (ANY religion), or the number of years they have operated is not necessarily the best way to determine if your donation is being used the way YOU would want it to be. Look closer and make your own decisions unless you are comfortable handing off money in a “feel good” way and don’t wish or don’t care where it goes.

Salvation Army Officer Minister Salaries:Simply Hired http://www.simplyhired.com/a/salary/search/q-Salvation+Army+Officer+Minister
3. The Salvation Army “Officers” benefits package looks like this: All expenses paid, complements of you, the donor! “Nice” home, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, vehicles, gas, heating, electric, phone, cell phones, Internet, cable, uniforms, daycare, trips, computers, retirement & cash salaries. They live very well! The national average for all of the above is about $73,000.00 per year or more; depending on rank and kids- you get more cash for kids.

4.
The Salvation Army does file IRS (nonprofit) Form 990! They file under a disclaimer and in protest, but in order to keep their “church” status, they must submit a 990 to remain eligible. (ASK TO SEE THEM BEFORE YOU GIVE!)
CFC ruling 88-1 states:
“Organizations that are not required to file IRS Form 990 with the IRS must nonetheless submit a completed copy of that form with their application for national or local eligibility.”

5.  The Salvation Army violates both state and federal laws by allowing its employees to purchase items from local food banks for personal use.

6. The Salvation Army has NO independent governing board! The Salvation Army has a national advisory board and each local chapter has its own advisory board, these advisory boards do not have any governing powers!

7. Resent numbers show:
One unit (and remember their international), took in over $2,500,000 in cash and non-cash donations, another $4,000,000 in government funds (still our money) of that, a staggering amount of more than
$4,500,000 was paid out in salaries and benefits alone! And that number does not include the other large amounts of operating cost.
A second unit took in $6,053,074.00 in cash and non-cash donations, another $983,736.00 in government funds (still our money) of that, another staggering amount of $4,465,309.00 was paid out yet again, in salaries, benefits and other large amounts of operating cost.
See for yourself...

8. A spokeswoman for the Salvation Army’s national office, Teresa Whitfield, told C&F Report that “The kettle funds are all budgeted locally and stay in the community where they are collected.”
Not True!  10% of the money collected from every unit is sent to its “ divisional/territorial  headquarters” to cover yet more operating cost.

9.
The Salvation Army discriminates against both Christians and non-Christians alike! If you are not a Salvationist, you are fair game for their discriminatory practices.

10.
The Salvation Army can be compared to Bernie Madoff's $50 Billion Dollar Ponzi Scheme! You trust them; you validate their work to other people and you continue to give, year after year. But just like Madoff, the money is being used for an unintended purpose. In most areas more than 80% of the money you give, is being used to maintain and advance the Salvation Army’s denomination of Salvationism. The money you give to help the poor, is paying for: Mass marketing- tv and print ads, lobbyist, high powdered attorneys, pr-firms, salaries, benefits, maintaining the homes their officers live in and other expenses that come along with homeownership… as well as travel, attorney fees for things like; harassing people who expose them, discrimination suits, wrongful termination & whistleblower suits, maintaining Salvationist churches, fundraising (bell ringer wages), vehicles, etc…
Our tax dollars, which they receive from our Government, is where most of the program money comes from!  We have no problem with the red kettles. The problem is, The Salvation Army is not being honest about what they do with those funds; thus deceiving the American public!
This is grounds for a class action lawsuit!

11.
Sexist army? In the USA, married officers (these are the people in “military” uniforms) only the husband receives a paycheck! Meaning the benefits; retirement, social security taxes, etc... are paid under his social security number and she is made to serve as a “volunteer”.

12
. The Salvation Army “strongly encourages” its employees to give to the United Way through its payroll deduction program, and then ask that they designate the donation back to The Salvation Army.  So much for helping anyone other than yourself! (Are you starting to see the big picture?.... large intake, little output!)

13. Kroc centers are nothing more than Salvation Army, mega churches! Hints the name; The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps (Church) Community Center.  Program goals are to entice denominational (cult) growth. The millions upon millions in community and corporate donated dollars are being used to build a Salvationist church! They tend to leave that part out when soliciting funds.

14. So what makes them a cult? The following things give them away:
A. Controlling and authoritarian leadership; frequently the leader is seen as a messiah type figure whose word is not to be questioned, and frequently the leadership will expect or demand to be consulted about individual members lifestyle choices eg.  getting married. The leader will not be responsible to anyone outside the group (Elders, bishops and rabbis in mainstream groups are all responsible to someone above them, outside the immediate group).
B. Questioning or disagreeing with the teachings of the group is seen as threatening, disloyal or even as a moral assault.
C. The group has an elitist view of life, and sees others outside the group as wrong, deficient, or unredeemed.
D. The group creates a very strong "us and them" mentality in relation to the outside world, and the group isolates itself in various ways from the outside world, perceiving it as an enemy. Frequently this results in group members being isolated deliberately even from their own family.
E. The group sees itself as more important than any of the individual members, and very strong peer pressure is asserted to make sure that the members obey the rules.
D. If they say they believe the Bible or another holy book, then frequently you will find that they base most of their teachings on just one small portion of that book, or a very slanted view (usually the leader's view) of the book.
More info about these specific things is available at - www.csj.org
